A Gripping Tale of Phony-Positivity “Under Pressure” By GrooveBot

‘Under Pressure’ is your perfect getaway from the new age toxicity packaged in the form of outright passivity and pseudo positivity. A highly relevant piece, even more so for the days to come, this is the breath of fresh air for those crippled under the reign of social media. Groovebot has managed to hit the spot with their far-sighted aggression employing the condemnatory lyrics delectably voiced by Anand Bhaskar.

The pent-up anger devouring your last ounce of tranquility, only to find the silver lining you pictured was a darkened alley of frustrations, takes you on the edge of insanity. It is either you dive deep into the pit of automated civilization training us to operate, perform, perceive, and think a certain way, or you break free. How you might think this absconding might feel is the entire experience of Under Pressure.

The exemplary composition by Groovebot aka Chinmay Agharkar is not only raw and in your face, it clearly implies the inspiration is pure angst and aggression. The basic drive concludes with a strikingly darker, and more poetic perspective to make its way through the trepidation. The involvement of the bass guitar by Roop Thomas resonates with every metal lover, urging an extensive submersion into the track portraying the brawl inside the mind to perfection. The bassist’s chord progression is so sharp that it compliments the already magnum opus of Anand Bhaskar’s untarnished vocals with the most apprising lyrics put in black and white. The focus on the bass with the use of double bass pedals creates the pugnacity and controversial high exclusively requisite, for this one.

What ‘Under Pressure’ focuses on is the feeling that enthralls everyone after assassinating or dissociating a part of our real selves from our being. The real eye-opener is that the genesis of all of the insecurity and anguish is from our creation(AI) of artificiality. Groovebot states, “Under Pressure deals with how Social Media, which is a tool for making human connections, slowly devolved into a proselytizer of a cult of toxic positivity. A cult that made its way into pop culture by converting basic human insecurities into stepping stones.” This Frankenstein moment is projected by the creators which not only keeps us away from what is real but also pushes us into momentary intoxication of “validation” through social media.

It is strange that the medium originally made to increase the realm of freedom for man has now turned into shackles with the constant pull of being the certain type of perfect. The artwork is riveting, canvassing the piece of the maker’s mind upholding the question of the hour: Are we really turning into the obeying automaton, hungry for acceptance, falling prey to the affirmative abandonments?
