Existential Crisis Painted In Its Glory With Aanchal’s Latest Single ‘Void’

One of Aanchal Bordoloi and Sanketh’s titular singles, “Void” remains the haunting exploration of existential crisis and its brutal aftermath. The country style like music however feels light yet deals with the darker spectrum of life.

Driving through a dark alley crossing the city lights reminiscing the days of the past is what “Void” feels like.  With a certain melancholy attached to the Blues touch, the guitar played by Sanketh spawned the lyrics so beautifully penned down by Aanchal Bordoloi. The song encapsulates the period of life with intense self-questioning and uncertainty in the future. This path in human life is often traveled solitarily, drowned in the gaping abyss of memories from the past. The vast city spends one and pulls life towards itself, in turn leaving the void within us. It is interesting how Aanchal decides to talk about the pervasive loneliness that covers the busiest city life with brooding crises in every mind. Every verse narrates the visceral pensive state of the emptiness and that creates the window of the sense of community. You suddenly feel like you are not alone and your misery finally lessens its baggage from over your shoulder. “Void” defines turmoil yet with calmness within the chaos. It defines paradox at best, with the unorthodox vocal delivery and the catchy lyrical delivery, Aanchal wins over our hearts.

Technically the song is easy for the listeners to dissect without an extremely complicated structure. The song builds itself through the verses which all have a slow tempo, and faster-refrained chorus, and the solo guitar moment had all the listeners swooning over its adequate placement.

‘Void’ is the warm hug that pushes away the lack of adornment and the help needed to navigate through your own predicament. The tunnel might appear dark and gloomy, yet in the end, it is incredibly rewarding and leads to a deeper understanding of oneself, and one’s place in the world.
