Delhi-based DJ and producer Karan Dhingra, known as House of Tuneman, has released his latest EP, “Rover.” With its captivating blend of Afro and Indian influences, the two-track EP showcases Dhingra’s mastery in fusing traditional sounds with contemporary electronic rhythms. “Moon Chaser” and “Maneye” offer a unique auditory experience, solidifying Tuneman’s position as a prominent figure in India’s electronic music landscape.
Drawing inspiration from his solo travels, “Moon Chaser” seamlessly blends Indian and Afro influences. The track features a captivating fusion of instruments, including the Bansuri, Tabla, Ghatam, Djembe, and Doshu shakers. Tuneman’s skillful incorporation of the Swiss handpan and ethereal, reverb-drenched pads creates a serene and adventurous atmosphere. The incorporation of Indian classical flute melodies and Rajasthani folk vocals further enriches the song’s cultural depth, resulting in a truly unique and immersive listening experience. The fusion of Indian and Afro sounds creates a mesmerizing atmosphere that transports listeners on a meditative journey of exploration and discovery. In the words of Tuneman,“Nights have always felt more calming and introspective to me, I wanted this track to capture that sense of calmness, of chasing the moon as it lights up the night sky.”
On the other hand, Maneye is a high-energy Afro-house track designed to ignite the dance floor. Its driving rhythm, built on a foundation of Afro percussion and Latin drums, creates an infectious groove that’s impossible to resist. The track’s exceptional Afro-style vocals, with the singer’s clear and distinct range, soar over the music, complemented by well-phrased falsetto lines. Tuneman’s skillful layering of percussive elements adds texture and depth to the track, building momentum and driving the energy to a crescendo. This dynamic blend of electronic, ethnic African, and exploratory sounds results in a truly captivating and danceable listening experience.
