Carl Cox has officially postponed his highly anticipated set at Movement Festival 2025, citing scheduling conflicts. Fans of the legendary UK DJ will have to wait until 2026 to see his full live show experience in Detroit. Cox took to Instagram to share the news, apologizing for the delay and promising a spectacular performance upon his return.
Festival organizers have announced that techno pioneer Jeff Mills will take Cox’s place as the headliner for Day 1 of the event, scheduled for May 24, 2025. Mills, widely regarded as a foundational figure in the Detroit techno scene, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to perform at Movement once again.
“To be able to play in Detroit is, and has always been, a special kind of magic,” Mills said in a statement. “It’s one of the few places in the world where anything could happen because of the deep-rooted musical sense shared by its people. This knowledge continues to be passed down from one generation to the next. Detroit truly understands the power of music and the value of a soulful and moving experience.”
Movement Festival, a staple in the global electronic music calendar, has already confirmed an impressive lineup for its 2025 edition. Alongside Mills, attendees can expect performances from Charlotte de Witte, John Summit, Jamie xx, The Blessed Madonna, Carl Craig B2B Moodymann, Sara Landry, FJAAK, and Underground Resistance co-founder Mike Banks, among many others. The three-day festival will take place at Hart Plaza in Detroit from May 24 to May 26, continuing its legacy as a hub for techno’s past, present, and future.
Cox originally planned to bring his hybrid live show to Movement 2025, making his postponement a disappointment for many fans. However, his commitment to delivering an unforgettable experience in 2026 has generated excitement and anticipation for his eventual return. “I promise to make it worth the wait,” Cox assured in his announcement. “It’s going to be epic!”
Jeff Mills’ addition to the lineup brings a fresh dynamic to this year’s festival, further solidifying Movement’s reputation as a premier electronic music event. As Detroit prepares for another legendary weekend, fans can look forward to an electrifying mix of artists, from rising stars to techno veterans.
