Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour concluded its Mumbai leg with three highly successful concerts, marked by engaging interactions with fans and tributes to Indian icons. The band expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support and promised to return to the city. After their time in Mumbai, Coldplay will continue their tour with two upcoming performances in Ahmedabad, with the final show live streaming on Republic Day.

Coldplay’s much-anticipated Music of the Spheres tour has concluded its highly successful leg in Mumbai, leaving fans with lasting memories of three spectacular performances at the DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21. The British rock band’s shows were marked by high energy, heartfelt interactions, and a deep appreciation for the city and its vibrant culture. With Ahmedabad next on their tour schedule, Coldplay’s time in Mumbai was a momentous occasion for their Indian fans.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Mumbai
Following their final performance on January 21, Coldplay took to social media to express their sincere gratitude to Mumbai. The official post, accompanied by a photo of the band members with the enthusiastic crowd, read: “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Mumbai 💚🤍🧡. It was a dream come true to play three concerts in your beautiful city. We will never forget how you made us feel. We’ll be back! ✨✨✨✨✨.” This emotional message reflects the deep connection Coldplay developed with their audience during the Mumbai concerts.

Connecting with the Audience
Throughout the three nights, Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, made a concerted effort to connect with the audience by speaking in Marathi and Hindi. On the first night, Martin greeted the crowd in Marathi, saying, “Tumhee Saghre Aaj Chaan Distat” (You All Look Beautiful Today). He continued in Hindi, expressing his excitement about performing in Mumbai: “Aap Sab Ka Bahut Swagat Hai Humare Show Pe. Mumbai Mein Aakar Hume Bahut Khushi Ho Rahi Hai,” which translates to, “You’re All Very Welcome To Our Show. We Feel So Happy To Be In Mumbai.” Martin’s efforts to engage with the crowd in their native languages were met with warmth and appreciation.

The band’s Mumbai performances were particularly significant as this marked their second tour of India and their fourth visit to the country. Coldplay expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome, with Martin describing India as one of the band’s “favourite places in the whole world.” The enthusiasm from the Mumbai crowd confirmed their place in the hearts of Indian music lovers.

A Tribute to Indian Icons
Throughout the concerts, Coldplay paid tribute to notable Indian figures, including Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and cricketer Jasprit Bumrah. On the second night, Martin caused a stir in the stadium when he mentioned Shah Rukh Khan, declaring, “Shah Rukh Khan forever. Go.” SRK, in turn, responded on social media with an affectionate message for Martin, writing, “Look at the stars…look how they shine for you…and everything you do! My brother Chris Martin, you make me feel special…like your songs! Love you and a big hug to your team. You are one in a billion, my friend. India loves you.”

Additionally, on the first night, Martin acknowledged cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, humorously stating that they had to finish the show because Bumrah wanted to bowl at him backstage. While Bumrah did not make an appearance, the reference was a highlight for cricket fans, adding a personal touch to the performance. On the second night, Martin further connected with the audience by playing a clip of Bumrah’s iconic dismissal of England’s Ollie Pope, further strengthening the bond between Coldplay and their Indian fans.

Continuing the Tour in Ahmedabad
With the Mumbai concerts now concluded, Coldplay is set to continue their tour in Ahmedabad. The band will perform two shows at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26. The final performance of the tour, on January 26, will be livestreamed on Disney+ Hotstar, coinciding with India’s Republic Day celebrations, providing fans across the country with an opportunity to experience the concert virtually.

Coldplay’s Mumbai concerts have been a significant milestone in their second tour of India. The band’s heartfelt interactions with the audience, their tributes to Indian icons, and their spectacular performances ensured that these three shows will remain memorable for years to come. As the band heads to Ahmedabad, the momentum from their Mumbai shows will undoubtedly carry forward, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter of the Music of the Spheres tour.
