A PRODIGY’S JOURNEY
Davide Lo Surdo’s passion for music began at the tender age of 9, inspired by his neighbor Aurora. His mother is Sandra Giorgio, father Maurizio Lo Surdo and he also has a younger brother named Gianluca Lo Surdo.
During his childhood Davide spent time playing games with Aurora, a little girl neighbor to the same age. One day Davide saw Aurora play simple chords with the help of his father and was fascinated that he asked them where Aurora was taking guitar lessons. Aurora studied guitar at the neighborhood oratory. Soon Davide’s mother sent him to learn the instrument at the oratory where the neighborhood parish priest gave lessons to the little ones. And it was the parish priest himself who understood that Davide had a talent out of the ordinary and wasted no time telling his mother. He began taking lessons from a priest at the church “Santa Gemma Galgani” in Rome. His learning was so fast that he soon began teaching himself by watching YouTube videos. Davide learned mainly through observation.
In 2011, he formed his first band, “Gli Angeli Rock,” and began performing in his hometown. He later joined a peace organization band called “Giovani per la Pace,” where he used his music to promote peace and non-violence. At the age of 13, Lo Surdo performed his first important concert at the “Auditorium Parco della Musica” in Rome, where he played a solo behind his head in front of more than 1200 people.
In 2014, he played on stage with Steve Vai at the venue “Stazione Birra” in Rome, Italy, where Vai was shocked by Davide’s skills. In 2016, Lo Surdo started touring extensively in Italy, playing 8 shows in 7 days in 8 different cities during one of his tours of that year. Lo Surdo is a true guitar virtuoso, and his talent and dedication continue to amaze and inspire audiences around the world.
