For those who live under the rock, Joy Sengupta was one of the most cherished fragments of the renowned The Raghu Dixit Project group. His recent venture, “Pariyon Ki Duniya” into the independent music scene manifested by Joy’s audience, not only marks his distinctiveness but also adds onto his credibility as an artist.

Right from the get go, our ears fill up with the honey-dipped melody building up to our anticipation of what comes next. Although this is merely Joy’s debut independent stride, yet the quality can be mistaken for a mainstream release. It is Joy’s vision that accentuates the entire composition, making it impossible to just listen once. The playful mix of genres with the soft and mellow undertone within the melody is enough to justify Joy’s vision as a creator.
“Pariyon Ki Duniya” paints the innocence of blooming love, and surely comes from a very personal part of the composer’s life. This innocence comes out of the arrangement and the composition reminiscent of the 80s style of Bollywood music. As the song begins, the guitar and the ukulele riff and later on the synth and the laid back lofi stands out as the cherry on the cake. The entire arrangement brings out the honesty of the artists and elevates the performance of the vocal efficacy of Hansika Pareek.
Speaking about Hansika, her vocals are the cornerstone of the entire song. She carries it and her lilting vocal tone, suits the mood and the tone perfectly. Her exquisite understanding of music and the calmness she brings onto the composition, could have been replicated by no one else. Already her talent knows no bounds and has caused ripples in the music industry, “Pariyon Ki Duniya” adds onto her marvelous body of work. The other highlight of the song is the flutist, Nastya Saraswati, sustaining the notes with power and elegance. Pinky Poonawala’s lyrics fit the entire composition, written with a certain poetic ardor that every word resonates with the one hearing it.
