After almost three decades, legendary rock band Pink Floyd has reunited to release a new single ‘Hey Hey Rise Up’ in support of the people of Ukraine. It is their first new music since 1994, and all proceeds generated will go to Ukrainian humanitarian relief.

‘Hey Hey Rise Up, released in support of the people of Ukraine, sees David Gilmour and Nick Mason joined by the long time Pink Floyd bass player Guy Pratt and Nitin Sawhney on the keys, all accompanying an extraordinary vocalist Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band Boombox. All proceeds go to the Ukrainian Humanitarian Relief.

The song also features vocals by Andriy Khlyvnyuk from the Ukrainian band Boombox while he was performing in central Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. He was singing “The Red Viburnum In The Meadow” on his instagram, a song from the First World War. Gilmour, who has a Ukrainian daughter-in-law and grandchildren, said he was moved when he saw the video of Khlyvnyuk performing and the picture of him dressed for battle against the Russian army before joining the army to fight for his country.
Titled ‘Hey Hey, Rise Up!’, David Gilmour defined the track as a show of “anger at a superpower invading a peaceful nation,” The work on this song began about seven weeks ago and was released on Friday, 8 April 2022. It has garnered about 7.8 M views in 10 days as of April 18.
