Set in the backdrop of Kashmir, the place with dreamlike landscapes and territory like no other, “Main Teri Yaad” foreshadows a similar essential core theme. Similar to how Kashmir has no other land that can be possible compared, there isn’t any other possible being that can be compared to you.

The music composition is top-notch as we see the transition from the aimless girl, lost among the woods similar to how she is lost in her life. As the music gets introduced in the very beginning with a piano while the girl looks at herself with dejection in her eyes. The melody plays in tune with the soft vocals of Ashish Chauhan, paving way for a more upbeat and hopeful melody. All of it is so beautifully matched with the lyrics written with such thought and brevity, that one cannot help but follow each word while humming.

As the melody progresses we see the positivity in the music as well as the character introduced. She is free and dances within the meadows of Kashmir as if there is no tomorrow. Similarly, the tune becomes upbeat, with Ashish’s vocals getting stronger and firmer with the guitar strings bringing in hope with them. All of it infuses itself carefully into the core of the musical essence. Divesh Karki on the Bass, along with Dev Taneja with the electric guitar brings in the gleeful hope and childlike wonder back into the mundane daily life of the narrative. It becomes all about the lost self and finding oneself by recalling the bygone days. Siddhant Boruah on the drums feels like the breath of fresh air and contributes effectively to the beautiful composition with grace.
The end of the video is especially heart-touching when the character dances without any fear with the message of finding herself yet again. Sukhmanee Lamba being the effortless actor she is, brings a beautiful presence onscreen effortlessly mirroring what it is to forget what we were once. “Main Teri Yaad” is the result of the successful production of Delhi Indie Project and every bit of their efforts are reflected in Ashish Chauhan’s music.
